Makita is not new to 36v circular saws. They just released an X2 18v saw, which uses two 18v battery packs to produce 36v. This will allow for better performance and backward compatibility with their 18v LXT range. The new XSH06 is I believe Makitas 3rd 7- circular saw however this is only the second to feature a brushless motor. With 36v and brushless tech, we can expect lots of power and excellent runtime from this saw.
My thoughts: The Makita new circular saw is smaller than the rear-handle brushless circular saws, which may appeal to some users. It also features the blade on the right side as opposed to the left side on the rear handle model so this will be potentially better suited for left handed users. With an impressive 6,000 no load rpm, a full size 7 blade, and an attachable vacuum port, this unit should be a good fit for anyone needing a powerful saw with great runtime and is already in the Makita battery line. Makita claims that this unit can perform 610 cross cuts in 24 hours on one 5.0 x2 charge.
